The title Quartz is derived from fragments of natural quartz embedded within the work itself, creating subtle crystalline textures beneath the resin surface. Small elements of lapis lazuli and gunpowder-toned resin pigment have also been incorporated, adding depth, luminosity and mineral-like variation throughout the painting.
Sweeping movement, sculptural texture and suspended detail combine to create a piece that feels both powerful and immersive, echoing the intensity and unpredictability of the sea.
